    0 Birth of Messiah

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the governement shall be upon his shoulder; and his name is called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 (Darby)

Isaiah is a favourite book from the Old Testament for many - it is full of precious prophecy on the coming of our Messiah. This particular verse teaches us that our Saviour would be born to the world, and a glimpse of what we could expect from His arrival on earth. At that time, noone would have any idea what this really meant - until Jesus was born, some 700 years later, thus fulfilling the prophecy of Isaiah 9:6.

Let's fast forward to the New Testament where we see in both John and Galatians (amongst others) the fulfillment of the prophecy we are taught about is Isaiah 9:6.

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us (and we have contemplated his glory, a glory as of an only-begotten with a father), full of grace and truth; John 1:14 (Darby)

but when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, come of a woman, come under law, that he might redeem those under law, that we might receive sonship. Galatians 4:4-5 (Darby)

Jesus always was; the Alpha and Omega. His purpose here on earth was us. He came to set the captives free. Born to die. Thank-you, Lord. That by your death, we live. That by your shed blood, we are redeemed. That by your resurrection, we live eternally with you.
